Permanent transparent gluing
3M VHB 4905 is a 0.5 mm transparent double-sided adhesive tape belonging to the VHB 4910 family. It is made entirely of foam and acrylic adhesive, without an intermediate rigid support: this construction creates a continuous joint, distributes tension and keeps the fixing point on transparent or aesthetically valuable components barely visible.
Recommended supports and benefits
It is designed primarily for high surface energy materials such as aluminum, stainless steel and glass, as well as compatible plastics such as polycarbonate and acrylic. Closed cell acrylic chemistry helps seal the joint against water and moisture. The 3M source indicates performance up to 93°C in the long run and up to 149°C for short exposures; geometry and load of the component must however be verified.

- Assembly of backlit signs, plaques, logos and decorative finishes.
- Fixing of panels to frames and stiffeners on sheet metal.
- Replacement of screws, rivets or liquid adhesives when sizing allows.
How to get reliable membership
Clean and degrease the surfaces, apply uniform pressure and respect the adhesion growth time. Low surface energy plastics, paints, treated glass and joints exposed to peeling loads require application testing. DPM Tapes can verify width, die-cutting and adhesive geometry on the customer's design.
